Grammy Award winner John Legend will headline next year’s Tobago Jazz Festival. It was one of several announcements coming out of the Trinidad and Tobago delegation at the 2013 World Travel Market, London, which is being held from November 4th to 7th.
Speaking during a press conference on the first day of WTM, Tracey Davidson-Celestine, Secretary for Transport and Tourism in the Tobago House of Assembly, announced that Legend, the man behind such hits as Ordinary People, Everybody Knows and All of Me will head an exciting cast of local and international musicians at the festival which is scheduled for April 18th to 27th 2014.
It was also announced that a new Condor flight from Manchester to Tobago will begin next month (December), increasing to four per week the number of direct services from the United Kingdom to the island.
The Condor service joins established flights from British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Monarch, in addition to services which stopover at Piarco International Airport in Trinidad.
The announcements are the first of many expected to emanate from the Trinidad and Tobago delegation at WTM and hints at the strategic focus for Trinidad and Tobago tourism in 2014. The most Southern Islands in the Caribbean, the twin-island state is also expected to debut exciting new agent incentives including Just Add Four, a new agent initiative.
Just Add Four aims to reward agents who make four or more bookings to the destination, with a guaranteed place on the first ever Tobago Mega Familiarisation (FAM) Tour. Also up for grabs will be a chance to join the Mega FAM via a prize draw which will be announced at the close of WTM. Agents can register their interest at the Trinidad and Tobago booth.
Visitors to the booth can also enjoy a taste of Trinidad and Tobago’s famous Carnival with costumed models or “Carnival girls” who will be on hand, along with destination sport celebrities Dwight Yorke and Brian Lara, for photo-ops.
Not your stereotypical Caribbean holiday destination, Trinidad and Tobago has an exciting vibe all its own. Offering exciting nightlife, a robust energy and manufacturing sector, spectacular ecotourism attractions – many not available in other Caribbean destinations such as the Pitch Lake and the oldest protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere – the dual-island paradise has it all.
These unique selling points of the destination, and many others, will be on show at WTM. To learn more visit Trinidad and Tobago at booth CA240, or visit us at IslandsofTrinidadandTobago on Facebook.
