Trinidad and Tobago’s Cruise Ship season officially kicked-off on November 11 and today the Regatta, the first large vessel of the season, docked at the Port of Port of Spain. The second ship to visit Trinidad and Tobago for the 2013/2014 cruise season, the Regatta is the flagship vessel of the Oceania Cruises fleet. A sleek and elegantly designed cruise ship, the vessel is 593.7 feet in length and carries 684 passengers and boasts four open seating restaurants, a world class fitness center and spa, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 342 lavish suites.
On arrival, the Regatta’s passengers were welcomed to Trinidad and Tobago with sunshine and an exciting taste of our culture including the sweet sounds of steelpan music, traditional Carnival characters, costumed Carnival dancers and the infectious sounds of calypso and soca music. To ensure those cruise visitors who decide to explore our capital city on foot are not at a loss for information or activities to enjoy, the Tourism Development Company Limited stationed Visitor Guides at strategic locations in downtown Port of Spain.
Many of the passengers also opted to participate in a variety of guided tours, which included visits to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, Asa Wright Nature Centre, a pan yard and the popular Port of Spain city tour.
This year’s cruise ship season officially runs from November 11 to May 31, 2014.
