Panorama, the signature steelpan event on Trinidad and Tobago’s national cultural calendar will officially launch on Friday January 03, 2014, at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, from 9:00 pm. The launch of the 51st edition of Panorama at the Mecca of Pan, will feature reigning champions, Petrotrin Phase 11 Pan Groove, NGC Steel Xplosion along with Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars, Fusion Steel, Free Lancers, Roy Cape & Blaxx, Black Stalin and DJ KC Klass Is Class.
One of the biggest events in Carnival, next year’s Panorama will be no exception as 174 steelbands have already signalled their intent to participate in the hotly contested competition. The figure of 174 bands represents 20 Large Conventional, 27 Medium Conventional, 58 Small Conventional and 69 Single Pan Bands. The first phase of the competition is the National Single Pan Competitions in the various regions which will run from January 30th to February 03rd 2014, at venues to be announced.
Pan Trinbago, the international authority for steelpan, celebrated the Golden Anniversary of Panorama in 2013 with a series of activities marking the milestone including a tribute to the late pioneer of steelpan, Bertie Marshall. The festivities continue next year under the banner “Celebrating The Evolution of Pan”
